Why are my cells dead?

The Proteomic Stabilizer PROT1 preserves blood and cell suspensions so that they can be analyzed by single-cell analysis platforms including CyTOF and conventional fluorescence-based flow cytometry.  While cell surface and intracellular analytes are very well preserved, this reagent system is not designed to preserve the cells in a living state.
